Bumba-meu-boi DancerSao Luis, BrazilThe Bumba-meu-boi festvial takes place throughout the month of June in Sao Luis. This distinctive dance blends a mixture of African, Portuguese, and Indian influences. On the Day of Saint John the Baptist on June 24th, many spectacular dances take place throughout the city.
  
While shooting a carnival parade in Santo Domingo, I saw this young girl walking with a beautifully colored costume. She was carrying an umbrella decorated with red ribbons. I got underneath the umbrella to photograph her just as the sun broke through some rain clouds.Dominican Republic

Seu Miguel who passed away a few years ago lived in the town of Fordlandia, where Henry Ford's Motor Company from 1928 to 1946 established a settlement and plantation to produce rubber in the Amazon.
